Head of Product Management

An American company is looking for a seasoned Product Manager who knows how to solve problems at scale and is not afraid to take on an enormous challenge. Our technology platform is the key to our future success and growth. We develop product for three primary customers, the Apartment Communities we serve, our Service Providers/Contractors, and our internal Operating Teams. Understanding the dynamics of overlapping requirements between these customer bases, and prioritizing investment in product across mobile experiences, web experiences, backend systems and business process is essential in helping us to create the right product for the right customer at the right time.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years managing product and design teams

  • Experience in building B2B marketplaces is a must

  • Hands-on experience developing and executing a product go-to-market strategy

  • Experience working in fast-paced agile software development environments with a track record of building relationships with remote software developers is critical

  • Expert in working and managing across cross-functional teams such as product, IT, marketing, and sales and recruiting

  • Proven communication and leadership skills to inspire, influence and motivate both direct reports and cross-functional partners.

  • Thrive in the ambiguity of an entrepreneurial environment

  • Experience interpreting market trends and developing your own vision

  • Experience leading deeply technical product plans and aligning business strategy and technology delivery

  • Proven change agent and a strong strategic thinker


Nice to have:

  • Previous CPO, VP or Head of Product experience

  • Have demonstrated examples of building and growing multiple product lines

  • STEM background or relevant educational background that makes you a master of problem-solving and analysis

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a roadmap that guides the build of features and business strategies within a product backlog that meets all needs

  • Measure impact, reprioritizing, and experimenting to drive results aligned with business objectives

  • Align with senior management to determine the key objectives of the organization and develop supporting metrics and business strategy

  • Determine the appropriate customer segment to focus on, identify their needs and brainstorm features to solve those needs

  • Prioritize those features and create a product roadmap aligned with changing objectives within the organization

  • Create and maintain a product backlog, leading ongoing efforts to prioritize, estimate and track development deliverables as part of an agile development process

  • Use data to drive prioritization, decision making and experimentation within the product roadmap

  • Leadership in positions with and without authority, able to guide and build features and run tests that connect with company goals and objectives

  • Report on impact, priorities, and changing circumstances to business stakeholders


The Purpose: As a Head of Product Management, you will directly impact our ambitious goal of being the US National Platform by partnering and supporting every function of the business.  You will work closely with company leaders to identify company strategy, objectives, and measurements that support our goal. Also, you will cooperate with business leaders, our customers (apartment communities and service providers), and the technology team to build a strategic product roadmap. That roadmap must reflect the complexities of the business we run and the primary challenges we see day to day:

  1. Keeping Customers Happy: Customers want a convenient, easy to use marketplace experience that facilitates a frictionless experience of ordering, delivery, and tracking of turn services. That experience must meet customers where they are today, whether they are in front of a computer in a leasing office, or in a golf cart inspecting the grounds of the community service. They want quality service delivered every time, on time with as little overhead or interaction needed from their relationship with us as possible

  2. Keep Service Providers Happy and Engaged on the Platform: Service providers want consistent work, consistent pay and as little friction as possible in the work they receive from us. They are masters of their skilled trades – and want a platform that invites and encourages their participation and focus on delivering work without the headache of managing a business. Recognition and respect are critical to ensuring satisfaction and engagement

  3. Managing and Monitoring the Complexities of a B2B Service Marketplace: Managing dynamically changing variables of client need and provider availability across a highly seasonal demand curve is critical to ensuring customers can access services on demand in an easy and convenient manner and that providers are provided a consistent financial opportunity. As we grow our client base, reciprocal efforts of growing our provider network make growth a calculated and complex business management problem to solve

  4. Scaling our business by leveraging the power of the network effects inherent to the multifamily industry: Rapid client growth is easily achievable through leveraging the power of selling top-down in multifamily organizations that oversee multiple communities across geographies. Positioning platform growth to accommodate immediate and massive growth spurts is the key to a rapid scale of the business but provides a significant technological and business process challenge that must be solved

We are a stable American company with a local B2B online marketplace that uses technology to deliver an end-to-end make-ready service for apartment communities. Built to eliminate the frustration of typical apartment turns, we utilize a proprietary logistics platform to connect apartment communities to skilled professionals. Similar to other online marketplaces in the B2C space such as Door Dash or Uber, our Vision is to apply a similar business model to the B2B space, disrupting an antiquated process with a goal of capturing over $10B in domestic annual spend. We have spent the last several years validating product-market fit and refining our business model and initial technology platform as we learn to operate multi-market. Having launched our marketplace in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Atlanta and experienced over 75% growth in ARR since launching in 2016, we are positioned to scale. Our Purpose is to build a national platform, servicing all MSAs in the next 5 years. To support this initiative, we have recently secured a $10M Series A funding round to make a significant investment in developing our technology to support the complexities and challenges of building a national marketplace of service providers for apartment communities across the nation to utilize in the transformation of how the multifamily industry turns vacant apartments
